Strength training benefits - Reason 1

Reason 1 - Increase functional strength. 

Functional movements are co-ordinated movements of the body. 

Functional strength is the ability to move a weight through a co-ordinated functional movement. Exercises like squats, lunges and bench press are exercises that require the co-ordination of a number of muscle groups to work systematically. They require the body to work in its most efficient manner. The squat requires good drive from the thighs, glutes and hips whilst maintaining a really strong core and the bench press requires movement through the shoulder and the elbow whilst maintaining a really stable core. Improve your functional strength and exercises like climbing stairs, getting out  of bed and day to day tasks will be effortless.
